dead-skin-on-the-linoleum-deact asked: Ah, I'm so glad I found this blog! It's amazing! And you're FIlipino, too (or part-Filipino)?
Hi!! Thank you so much! I am half-Filipino, as my mom was born and grew up in Cebu. My dad is Irish-Italian American, so I’ve always hovered somewhere between both cultures. I’m starting to write about my mom and the stories she’d tell me when I was a kid, so I hope you’ll enjoy reading them!
I’d very much like to visit the Philippines one day, and draw a comic travelogue about it.
I’m continuing to play around with gouache, trying out different approaches and styles. This tiny self-portrait was actually painted as a break from another, bigger painting I’ve been working on all week (which I hope to post tomorrow or Monday).
I’m also working on diary comics and some long-form comics, which I think I’ll have to serialize here, lest I disappear for another 6 months.
I’m really enjoying the end-of-summer weather, spending most of my time outside or watching cartoons by my window. I am foolishly trying to draw diary comics again, just as my grad classes begin.
I continue to learn embroidery, and I look forward to doing more in the future on better fabric, and maybe even a fully embroidered mini-comic(!).
Please excuse the poor scan quality, I should probably iron this at some point. I will try to post a better quality image.
And here is your humble narrator, holding his blurred embroidery, as taken by his gf:
I’m working on new comics right now, so watch for more soon!
Hello dear readers,
I’ve spent the week working on a needle point thing for a future comic. I painted this little self portrait of myself as a break from stabbing my finger tips. My girlfriend, Lauren, painted the background.
I’ll be posting a new comic very soon!
Hello dear readers,
I’m sorry it’s been so long since I last posted something. I am in Grad School, have a new job, and finally have time again for comics and art. Expect many more things soon!
Thanks to my LEEP friends and stalwart Internet pals.
Still getting used to life in a new apartment
Dang, I finally have to replace some of these markers that I bought five years ago.
