"Lion Sleeps Tonight"

Diary comic in pen, ink, gouache, and watercolor on paper (+ computer)

Hello dear readers,

I’m shifting gears toward some long-form works, one of which I hope to have at SPX in two month’s time. I plan to draw up a few diary comics as breaks/room to experiment, too.

"July Morning"
Gouache and watercolor on paper.
Hello dear readers,
I’m writing and drawing some longer comics, and I have some big projects on the horizon. Here is a little diary comic about doing yoga in the park. More comics are forthcoming.

"Sleep Oblivion" Unfinished comic.
Ink and gouache paint on colored paper.
Hello dear readers,
Here is a comic I started drawing over the winter, when I was trying to grapple with a very surreal sleeping schedule. I was reading a lot of Alex Toth comics at the time.
One day, I’d like to finish this, or start over completely (I’d thumbnailed a few more pages). “Sleepwalking” was a working title, which I gave up for a nod to a Yukio Mishima story. Draw, live, & learn.

"Two to Transport: Ballad of a Red Shirt"

Ink, Gouache, and computer coloring.

Hello dear readers,

I have one of my older comics on Vice today! I love Star Trek, and have often fantasized about serving aboard the Enterprise. My favorite series, in order: Tie of DS9/TNG, The Original Series, Voyager/Animated Series tie.

Old Comics: Music to Cry to

I drew this 7 years ago, when I was making most of my comics in composition notebooks. I haven’t read any of these in years, but I’ll be posting some of them here.

I’ll have some new comics up soon.

edit: inflationary I wish I could remember what song it was! Like many of the comics I drew in college, I’d use song lyrics or names for my titles. I’d have to resurface my old Zune to know for sure. This was one of my favorites, though.

More Diary Comics
Hello dear readers,
I’m learning to draw these again, hoping to keep it going for a while.

Hello faithful readers,

I’ve been drawing a lot and will have more comics up soon. For anyone near Chicago, I plan on going to CAKE next month. I hope to have some comics and/or prints with me.

"Visiting her at work, 2/18/14"
charcoal pencils on toned paper.
Hello dear readers,
Here’s a little silent diary comic I drew as a break from some longer stories. I’m always trying to learn how to draw faster. I’ll be posting more diary comics soon.

littlebigedie asked: You've probably had a lot of people ask, but do you plan to ever sell any of your embroidery comics (or any of the others)? Your artwork is amazing, and if you did plan to, I would think about buying something. Thanks.

Thank you so much for writing. I am planning on selling printed collections of my work soon. I’ve been saving up money, and figuring out the logistics of scanning and printing everything. My goal is to have a few books available in time for CAKE, along with some original embroideries, paintings, and prints. I’ll be making announcements soon!

"January Morning"

Embroidery on cross stitch fabric.

Hello dear readers,

I’ve taken a needle point break from drawing, to do this little diary embroidery. I have another planned, but I think I need to switch back to pencil and paper for just a bit. I wish there were one of me to embroider, and another to draw comics.

Thank you laurensouterraine for her color guidance.
